A Message from the Principals: Click Here to Translate Hello, Winter might not be over yet, but we are getting ready for Spring! We were so excited to host our first annual Falcon Family night on March 12th!! So many fun activities for families to enjoy! In conjunction with the Falcon Family Book Fair, families enjoyed a literacy and math activity and snacks! Thanks to all for hosting this great opportunity for families and students!
Our last months in a school are a culmination of so many experiences and learning from our year! Special thanks to our Falcon Families (PTO group) for the many ways they support our school. With spring also comes field trip season, and we are so grateful to Falcon Families for ensuring that each student can experience these special learning events. Staff work hard to identify the best experiences that enhance student learning, and provide social and cultural experiences, too.

In March, the Elementary School students participated in a Rally Point Awareness Drill today. Unlike a full-scale evacuation, this was a "sight-line" exercise. Students were moved to our designated outdoor assembly area on campus.
The goal of this drill is to remove the "unknown" from an emergency situation. By physically pointing to where they would go, we replace confusion with a clear, visual plan. This builds student confidence and ensures that, in the unlikely event of an evacuation, every child knows exactly where their "safe harbor" is located. |
REMINDER: Open Enrollment 2026-27 |
The inter-district public school Open Enrollment program allows parents to apply for their children to attend public school in a school district other than the one in which they reside or to remain in their current district in the event that they move out of the district before the start of the 2026-27 school year (Moving? See HERE for more information on remaining in the District through the school year). Open Enrollment will allow student(s) to continue attending school in the School District of Sheboygan Falls. Please call Lisa Berg at 920-467-7893 for additional information or check the Department of Public Instruction Website at: https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment (also check the 2026-27 Open Enrollment Regular Application Period Brochure).
There is no tuition cost for students participating in the Open Enrollment program, but parents are responsible for transporting their student(s) to and from school. The open enrollment period for the 2026-27 school year is from February 2nd until 4:00 p.m. on April 30th, 2026.
Applications must be done on the DPI (Department of Public Instruction) website at https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment. A link to this site will also be available on the school web site during the application period at: www.sheboyganfalls.k12.wi.us. The DPI website will be active from February 2nd until 4:00 p.m. on April 30th, 2026.
If you anticipate a possible move out of the School District of Sheboygan Falls, please complete the Open Enrollment application as soon as possible. You have the right to cancel your application at any time and are not bound to enrollment. If you are currently attending under a Tuition Waiver, you will need to complete an Open Enrollment application for the upcoming school year. |

Lice are a common concern for families, especially those with school-aged children between 3 and 11 years old.
These tiny, parasitic insects aren’t dangerous and don’t spread disease. Still, a lice infestation can be stressful, which is why it is helpful to know how to spot, treat and prevent lice to minimize disruptions to your family’s everyday routine. Our medical director, Dr. Jenny Brault, shared some helpful information on how lice are transmitted, and how to manage head lice infestations. |

Managing Head Lice requires a combination of treatment, cleaning, and prevention. Head lice are tiny insects that live on the scalp and feed on human blood. Lice cannot jump, hop or fly from head to head. They have no wings and their legs are designed for crawling and clinging to hair shafts. Lice spread through direct, close head-to-head contact, and are common among school-aged children. Too common for anyone's comfort!
The first step in managing head lice is confirming the infestation. Signs include itching on the scalp, a tickling feeling in the hair, and visible lice or eggs (nits) attached firmly to hair strands near the scalp. Once confirmed, treatment should begin promptly. Over-the-counter medicated shampoos or lotions containing Permethrin or Pyrethrin are commonly used over the counter options. These treatments kill live lice, but a second treatment is usually required about 7–10 days later to kill newly hatched lice. There can be some resistance to this, so please reach out to your provider if prescription options are needed.
While the medication is important, using a fine-toothed lice comb is also important. After treatment, hair should be combed carefully to remove dead lice and nits. Wet hair and good lighting help make the process easier. Combing should be repeated every few days for about two weeks.
Environmental cleaning at home helps prevent reinfestation. Wash bedding, clothing, hats, and towels used within the previous two days in hot water and dry them on high heat. Items that cannot be washed can be sealed in a plastic bag for about two weeks to eliminate any live lice (48 hours) or remaining nits that might hatch (10-14 days). Hairbrushes and combs should be soaked in hot water for 5–10 minutes.
Finally, avoid sharing personal items such as combs, hats, or hair accessories, though spread this way is less common than for those living in the same household and/or sharing a bed. With careful treatment and follow-up, head lice infestations can usually be eliminated within a few weeks. |
