A Message from the Principals

Newsletter

Hello MS Families,

Spring is in the air with some warmer weather and longer days, getting everyone excited that summer is on its way.  This is true, but there is still a lot of teaching and learning to take place.  This week marks the last week of the 3rd quarter, a great time to check Infinite Campus to see how your child(ren) are doing academically.

A big thank you to ALL of the families who joined us for our first ever Showcase Night earlier this month!  It was amazing to see the students and staff present and show all of the wonderful things that are happening in the MS.  We look forward to the same format next year!

Spring also brings the time period for state testing (a summary of testing dates is below). There will be ongoing communication with key reminders for families and students regarding the state assessments.  We appreciate your efforts in helping reiterate the importance of students giving their best effort to help us know where to continue to focus their academic growth.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the main office.

Thank you for your partnership!

Ryan Zak, SFMS Principal

Lindsey Schreurs, SFMS Associate Principal

You spoke, we listened, vote April 1st, 2025

Single Referendum Question Proposed to Address Critical Needs & School Improvements

As previously communicated, there will be a single referendum question on the April 1, 2025 ballot addressing the most urgent space and critical capital improvement needs at the elementary school and the safety, aging building systems, and outdated, inefficient learning spaces at the high school.

In direct response to voter feedback, the revised facilities plan has been reduced to a not-to-exceed total project cost of $70 million. The School Board has eliminated the second question proposed in November 2024, which included building a new auxiliary gym, new multi-sport field, and new track for $21.5 million. They have also reduced the first question focused on elementary and high school improvements by more than $8 million by removing space for childcare and further prioritizing projects at both buildings. The proposed $70 million project includes the highest-priority projects, focused on providing space at the Elementary School, investing in existing buildings, and improving learning environments.

Fond du Lac Avenue Road Closure

Fond du Lac Avenue Road Closure Begins March 31st

As communicated to families via email on Friday, March 14th, we want to inform you of a temporary road closure that will impact pick-up and drop-off procedures at the Elementary School and Middle School starting Monday, March 31, 2025, and lasting until approximately September 1st, 2025.

Fond du Lac Ave will be closed between Rangeline Road and Oak Street due to road construction and utility work. This closure will affect our usual traffic flow during arrival and dismissal times.

**WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:**

Increased Traffic and Delays: Please expect significant traffic congestion and delays during pick-up and drop-off.

Alternate Routes: We recommend planning alternate routes to and from the school. Please review this GUIDE and EXPLANATION VIDEO for traffic plans and new drop-off/pick-up procedures.

Bus Riders: The bus company will pick up students 5 minutes earlier than the current pick-up time.  Please plan to have students ready on time.   This applies to all bus riders (ES, MS, HS).

Extra Time: Please allow ample extra time for your commute to and from school.

Patience and Cooperation: We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time. Please be mindful of other drivers, pedestrians, and school staff directing traffic.

We understand that this road closure may cause inconvenience, and we apologize for any disruption it may cause to your daily routine. We are working closely with the City of Sheboygan Falls to minimize the impact and ensure the safety of our students.

We will provide updates as they become available. Please check your email and the school website for further information. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
