A Message from the Principals

A Message from the Principals:  CLICK HERE TO TRANSLATE

Can you believe we are almost to the end of the school year? So hard to believe! The amount of learning and growing all of our students (and staff) have done this year is remarkable. We are not done yet and look forward to the remainder of the year’s learning and activities. From concerts, to informances, field trips and field day, there are so many memorable moments for the remainder of our school year!

Let’s remember to finish strong and safe by following our arrival and dismissal procedures, chaperone duties, and school celebrations. As part of our safety procedures, a reminder that, per school policy, pets are not allowed on the premises. While we love our pets at home, on school grounds, especially at drop off and pick up, we put them into extra stimulating situations.  We want to keep everyone, human and canine, safe during our busiest times of day.

Thank you for being our partners in education,

Jen & Jess

Preparing for the 2026-27 School Year

Early Bird Registration (Beginning May 1st)

It is hard to believe we are already beginning to talk about next school year!

If you are wondering about our placement process for classes, you can find more information HERE.  Also, next year, our campus open time will shift from 7:30 am to 7:38 am. The Bus Company and Middle School are part of this change as well. There is plenty of time to plan for these shifts.  Breakfast will be served as it has been in the past, the only change is students will be dropped off 8 minutes later than in previous years. The bell schedule for 2026-2027 can be found HERE.

Recess Challenge

After our return from Spring Break, SFES has been busy practicing expected behaviors at recess time while competing against other grade levels for a popcorn and movie party. Students were celebrated for being “Recess Rockstars”, showing safe, respectful, and responsible behaviors. Each week there were mini challenges where classes could gain additional tickets for exceptional behaviors while they lined up, transitioned to and from recess, and cleaned and organized their cubby areas. The winner of the recess challenge was announced during our whole school assembly.

Food Drive

SFES is participating in a Food Drive from April 20th through May 1st with the Sheboygan County Chamber of Commerce Junior Leadership program. The group has partnered with a local non-profit organization, and our group has selected the Sheboygan County Food Bank.

Allergy Season in Wisconsin

Spring has arrived, which means allergy season in Wisconsin isn't far behind.  This year will be particularly tough for people with seasonal allergies as climate change continues to drive longer and more intense pollen seasons, according to a recent report by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.

An increasingly earlier spring and later fall allow pollen-producing trees and plants to be active longer, and warming temperatures in urban areas are increasing air pollution and further stimulating pollen production, the report said.

Due to overlapping symptoms, it can be hard to tell the difference between a cold and allergies.  Allergy symptoms occur when your body reacts to a foreign allergen protein, such as grass, mold, or pollen.  When an allergen is present, your body's defense system kicks in, causing your immune system to react to protect you.

Colds are caused by your body's response to a virus.  In this case, your immune system responds by causing physical symptoms, like inflammation.  The response occurs as it attempts to eliminate the virus and heal your body.

The chart below outlines the difference between common cold and allergy symptoms:

Chart showing the common symptoms of a cold vs. allergies

Here are some tips that can help you prepare for allergy season, and allow you to get outside and enjoy the spring weather:

  • Check pollen counts. Make sure to check pollen counts daily during peak allergy season and stay inside on high-pollen days if possible.
  • Keep pollen out of your home. You can keep pollen out of your home by taking shoes off before entering the house, putting pollen-laden clothes in the washing machine immediately and closing the windows on high-pollen days, and cleaning your bedding, fabric furniture, and floors weekly and your curtains and washable rugs monthly will also help.
  • Use high-efficiency filters. If possible, use central air conditioning or air cleaners with a HEPA, or high efficiency filter.
  • Treat your symptoms early. Allergy medications often work best if you start taking them before pollen levels surge. Speak to your doctor about when to start treatment.

Stay healthy!
