Happiest of Holidays from Mrs. Andrews & Ms. Beaudry ! We wish everyone the best of this busy and fulfilling holiday season. As a school in December, we continue to learn and grow.
Winter does bring the need for some special reminders to keep all our students healthy and safe:
|
-
Dressing for Recess: Please ensure your child comes to school prepared for the colder weather. We strive to have outdoor recess whenever possible, so hats, gloves/mittens, warm coats, and boots are essential. Please label all outerwear! Per the student handbook: All students are expected to go outside for recess, weather permitting. An exception would be if the child has a doctor’s excuse, which we will need in writing.
-
Snow Rules: Please use THIS LINK to view the Snow Rules for all grade levels. We use these to promote safe and positive fun during play time.
-
Snow Day Procedures: As we get closer to potential inclement weather, we want to communicate our plan in case of a school cancellation. In the event that school is canceled due to weather, we will follow the plan below as a district where the first weather day will be in the “traditional” format with no virtual learning for any students.
-
Illness Protocol: With cold and flu season upon us, please remember to keep your child home if they have a fever, are vomiting, or have other contagious symptoms. This helps keep our entire school community healthy. Per the Student Handbook: A fever ~ oral temperature of 100.4 or higher. Students taking medication for a fever should NOT be sent to school. We cannot dispense medication for a fever at school.

3 Talented 4th Graders! Did you know that we have 3 SFES 4th graders who applied to be the Boys and Girls Club Junior Youth of the Year?
Clayton Kazmicrczak, Emma Cook, and Hudson Skelton were all applicants and did a great job presenting themselves and representing SFES on December 11th. The winner will be announced at the Club in January.
Better Together!! Biggest thanks to all of our SFES Families and the PTO for our very successful Book Fair! A grand total of $13,500 of items were sold. This brings back $5,536 in Scholastic Dollars. These funds cover the weekly Scholastic newsletter for all of the next school year (2026-27)! In addition teachers were able to spend $100 on their classrooms!
Thank you for your partnership in education,
Jen & Jess
Jennifer Andrews, SFES Principal
Jess Beaudry, SFES Associate Principal

In December, the Elementary School continued with fire safety, practicing a fire drill. These drills are important parts of school safety that help ensure students and staff know how to evacuate a building quickly and quietly. This was the third time practicing a fire drill this year, we added an “increased difficulty” piece of blocking one exit in December. |

Family safety is a top priority. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is a great resource for providing SAFETY TIPS to keep your loved ones safe during the holiday season.
One tip is to shop only from trusted stores and online retailers to protect your family from common holiday-related hazards. Many unsafe or counterfeit products are sold through unverified third-party sites and can come from countries that may not have strict safety requirements. The CPSC urges consumers, especially parents and caregivers shopping for young children, to remain vigilant to prevent toy-related injuries and deaths. In addition, be proactive when choosing holiday decorations to keep family and friends safe.
Stay healthy and safe this holiday season!
